Jose Mourinho is in talks to become the new manager of Benfica.
The Portuguese club sacked boss Bruno Lage on Wednesday morning after they squandered a 2-0 lead in their 3-2 home defeat against Qarabag in the Champions League.
Mourinho, 62, was axed by Fenerbahce in August when they were knocked out of the Champions League.
He led Benfica for 11 games in his first managerial role in 2000 and faces the prospect of a reunion with his former club Chelsea should he be appointed ahead of their fixture on September 30.
Benfica have been linked with Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, who played for the club.
